The Buick Open celebrates 50th year
GRAND BLANC – The Buick Open kicked off the celebration of its 50th year anniversary in style last week at media day.
PGA Tour legend Billy Casper, sixth on the all-time wins list with 51, was brought in to reminisce about the days of $1 tickets and his winner’s check of $9,000 in 1958 – part of which he used to pay back his financial backers. He also drove up in a 1958 Buick, the car he won 50 years ago.
But the big news of the day, of course, detailed Tiger Woods’ plans to return to the event and the clinic he will host tournament week at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit from 3-4 p.m. June 24. Woods missed last year’s event after the birth of his first child.
There will be a limited number of seats available for the clinic. Ticket packages available include the $50 package consists of a credential to the Tiger Wood clinic and a one day ticket to the Buick Open and the $150 package features a clinic credential and a week-long grounds badge to the Buick Open. Buick Open week is set for June 23-29 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc.
